Skills and requirements

-experience of working with automated software testing projects

-experience of user acceptance and system integration testing

-at least two years’ experience as a senior tester, release manager or team leader

-thorough working knowledge of structured test methods and processes

-working knowledge of tests scripts in Selenium Web Drive, Cucumber and ruby.

-able to influence others by demonstrating the benefits from practicing TDD and using automated testing

-working knowledge of source code management tools such as CVS, SourceSafe or TFS

-working knowledge of software planning tools such as JIRA

-experience documenting and building test cases

Main Job Purpose

Working closely with Product Owners, agile development teams and other key stakeholders, the QA and release manager is responsible for ensuring software produced by Union Street is fully tested, of high quality and adheres to our information security policies throughout the development and release life cycles. This role is accountable for all areas of testing and release from test planning, manual testing, automated testing, release planning through to final release.

The QA and release manager will own developments information security policies acting as our risk owner and will work directly with the CTO and Standards and Security Officer to review and develop the procedures and policies in alignment with our iso 27001 certification.

We have a ten strong QA team sub divided into two teams and a dedicated devops engineer. One team is focused on manual/functional testing and the second is focused on technical/automated testing. Each team has a dedicated team lead and the release manager will have 3 direct reports, the two team leaders and the dedicated devops engineer.

Knowledge:

The successful candidate will have experience in the following key areas:

-At least 2 years’ experience managing people in either a QA and/or release management environment

-Strong information technology security knowledge in web based environments

-Strong understanding of automated testing and/or continuous integration
