Data engineer - Infrastructure engineer

Role

An infrastructure & data engineer position has been created for an individual who enjoys strengthening the infrastructure of systems. The role is ideal for an infrastructure & data engineer who enjoys working with database, running queries, and optimising the queries.

Working alongside the development team, you will enhance with the delivery of crucial information that is held within an innovative product that will benefit a great cause. As a result great job satisfaction will be gained from this role.

Your work will focus involve handling and processing raw data. 24 hours a day, large amounts of data is loaded onto the server. Therefore you will be working with databases, specifically SQL Server and PostgreSQL. The role will involve and therefore require the below skills and experiences:

* Strong SQL Server, PostgreSQL (ideally enterprise level)

* Common Table Expressions

* Window Functions (LAG, LEAD etc)

* Views

* Functions and Stored Procedures

* Writing queries, dissecting queries making improvements to the speed

* Query Optimisation, optimise query for the underlying architecture- optimising the queries for how the query planner works

* Look for trends and patterns

* Sequential scans

* SQL processing

* Work with Linux servers - load balancing (except ubuntu)
