Storage Infrastructure Engineer

To monitor and maintain the Storage and Virtual infrastructures, encompassing Core EMC Storage, VMware hypervisor environments. In support of these activities Capacity management will also be a requirement.

Responsibilities

* Monitor and maintain Core Storage infrastructure to Operational standards

* Work collaboratively with 3rd party support organisations to maintain Storage infrastructure to recommended standards

* Maintain all Storage Management Processes

* Monitoring and Management of the core VMware infrastructure, to include performance and capacity management

* Production of Operational and Technical Documentation to agreed standards.

* Production of management reports detailing Storage and Virtual Server performance and trending

* Assist Backup team as required

* Operate a centralised Enterprise Systems Management capability.

Key Skills

* Working knowledge and operational experience of at least one of the following :

* EMC Storage block including VNX , Xtremio, Vplex products

* EMC Isilon NAS (or similar scale out 1PB+ NAS)

* Large scale VMWare infrastructures (250+ Virtual machines minimum, 2000+ preferred)

* Windows file/folder security permissions and DFS

* Experienced IT professional, focused on delivering an effective and efficient Storage Management capability

* Working knowledge ofVMwarevSphere 5/5.5/6

* vMotion & Storage vMotion

* DRS

* SRM protection

* Snapshot management

* P2V

* Working Knowledge ofEMC SAN andNAS technologies

* SAN Fibre Switching and zoning principles (Brocade or Cisco)

* Lun Masking and host configuration

* common RAID technologies

* Snap shot technologies

* NAS Cif shares and replication

* Understanding of IT management processes

* CISCO UCS blade servers and UCS manager software (Desirable)

* Any experience in Vrealise automation or other SDDC software (Desirable)

* VMware certified professional (Desirable)

* EMC certified Storage administrator (Desirable)

* Commvault certified administrator (Desirable)

* Ability to travel to other sites.

* UK Driving License required.

* Work out of hours for planned maintenance and as part of an on call rota.
