Network Manager
Network Manager / Cisco / Firewalls / Load Balancing / Permanent / Solihull / West Midlands
My internationally recognised client is looking for an experienced Network Manager to join the IT team at their Midlands Head Office in Solihull.
The Network Manager will be responsible for a small team of Network Engineers and also for the operation and administration of the company's data networks, load balancing and firewall infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
*Smooth operation of company networks.
*Continually monitor network for performance in line with agreed SLA.
*Manage supplier relationships to optimise billing and ensure service provision leverages the most cost effective technologies and providers.
*Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans relating to networks.
*Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
*Prepare RFP's, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports and other documentation for the network part of infrastructure projects and associated efforts.
*Effective day to day management of the networks team.
*Test networks in relation to systems performance and provide regular performance statistics and reporting; develop strategies and roadmaps for maintaining network infrastructure.
*Manage operational costs of network; conduct near and long term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base makers, stakeholders and end users regarding pertinent network activities.
*Promote ITIL fundamentals within the activities of the IT team and also the wider business, embrace process improvement and industry best practice.
*Participate in the management of the IT team and deputise for the Head of IT Infrastructure in their absence, if required.
*Act as Incident Manager on a rota basis.
*Work with the IT team to establish a robust Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery (DR) Plan.
Key skills and experience required:
*Exceptional knowledge of service delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
*Hands on experience of network troubleshooting.
*Knowledge of current network protocols and standards.
*Experience in interpreting the applicability of local, national and global laws/regulations and guidelines to company operations.
*Ability to liaise and influence all levels of management and work with other departments.
*implementation of projects.
*Three years plus successful leadership of a technical team.
*Cisco Switching and Routing
*Firewalls (ideally Checkpoint, Cisco ASA or Fortinet)
*Knowledge and understanding of load balancing technology (ideally F5)
*Either CCNA or CCNP qualification is desirable but not essential
