Job Title: Technical Infrastructure / Operations Analyst

Salary: £33,843 - £41,318 + 10% uplift for mandatory on call rota

Location: Guildford, Surrey

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (37 hours per week)

Job Role:

Monitors service delivery performance metrics and liaises with managers and customers to ensure that service level agreements are not breached without the stakeholders being given the opportunity of planning for a deterioration in service. (SLMO)

Main Duties:

* Carries out agreed operational procedures, including network configuration, installation and maintenance. Uses network management tools to collect and report on network load and performance statistics. Contributes to the implementation of maintenance and installation work. Uses standard procedures and tools to carry out defined system backups, restoring data where necessary. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution. (ITOP)

* Performs regular high-performance, scalable backups and restores on a schedule and tracks offsite storage. Carries out documented configuration for allocation of storage, installation and maintenance of secure storage systems as per the agreed operational procedure (e.g. using replication software to allow resilience). Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution (e.g. monitoring SAN for disk failures and replacing). Uses standard management and reporting tools to collect and report on storage utilisation, performance and backup statistics. (STMG)

* Following agreed procedures, identifies, registers and categorises incidents. Gathers information to enable incident resolution and promptly allocates incidents as appropriate. Maintains records and advises relevant persons of actions taken. (USUP)

* Identifies and resolves network problems following agreed procedures. Uses network management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed network maintenance tasks. (NTAS)

* Identifies and resolves issues with applications, following agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks. (ASUP)

* Investigates problems in systems, processes and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures. (PBMG)

* Monitors compliance against agreed processes and investigates, assesses and resolves incidents of non-compliance, escalating where necessary. Grants users required physical accesses and monitors and reports on overall access control. (DCMA)

* Uses system management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed system software maintenance tasks. (SYSP)

* Assesses, analyses, develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change. (CHMG)

* Uses the tools and techniques for specific areas of release and deployment activities. Administers the recording of activities, logging of results and documents technical activity undertaken. May carry out early life support activities such as providing support advice to initial users. (RELM)

* Identifies and resolves issues with applications, following agreed procedures. Uses application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics. Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks. (SCAD)

* Applies tools, techniques and processes to track, log and correct information related to CIs, ensuring protection of assets and components from unauthorised change, diversion and inappropriate use. (CFMG)

Personal Specification:

* Relevant degree or evidence of equivalent experience in Dev/Ops team role

* Current relevant management qualification (ITIL preferred but other recognised qualification will be considered)

* Membership of professional body such as BCS, CIM or relevant technical qualifications

* Experience of infrastructure service delivery function in a matrix managed environment

* Customer service in a technical environment

* Strong leadership, management and inter-personal skills

* Able to build effective teams including customers and work across functions at all levels to achieve desired outcomes

* Excellent written and oral skills

* Driving licence and occasional need to work outside normal business hours including possible on call arrangements (if introduced)
