The Association for Project Management (APM) leads the way in promoting better standards and practice and provides valuable products and support to its growing membership of 25,000 individual and 560 corporate partners and affiliates. APM is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive to lead the organisation through the next exciting period of its development. The largest professional body of its kind in Europe, APM has just received Chartered status and a significant transformation programme is in progress to ensure that the organisation is operationally fit for purpose to deliver its Chartered responsibilities effectively and to support its ambitious new strategy. You will work with the APM Chair and Board of Trustees to develop, shape and deliver the strategy and business plan for APM, maintaining the goodwill and support of corporate partners and affiliates and ensuring a proper balance between the Association’s public, professional, business and performance-related imperatives. This will include: delivering the APM’s business plan against some stretching targets, that strengthens and diversifies core products and services and delivers ongoing membership growth; leadership and advocacy on behalf of APM, its members and the wider project management profession; responsibility for a strong commercial and income-generation strategy and; delivery of an ambitious transformation programme.

An inspiring leader, with outstanding commercial skills, you will drive a culture of collaboration and high performance, where a valued workforce is motivated to deliver exceptional services to our corporate partners and affiliates. You will bring the vision to identify new opportunities for APM, together with the demonstrable influencing skills to work effectively with our many varied stakeholders both within and outside the profession. Outstanding communication skills and powerful credentials in motivating teams and influencing others to deliver business change are essential.

Whether you are a serving Chief Executive, or this is a career step, you will have a demonstrable track record operating at executive board level in a complex organisation in the commercial, public, project management or membership body sector. You will have the ability to get to grips with key policy drivers and to play a key ambassadorial role in promoting the work and impact of the project management industry. With a broad remit, this role requires the vision, innovation, creativity and drive to build APM into the preeminent modern professional body in its sector and to ensure that it continues to promote and support the profession and help its members engage with and thrive in a changing world.
