Job Title: Junior Back-End Developer

Location: Liverpool

Salary: £16,000 to £22,000

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent. 35-hour week, Monday to Friday

The Company is pleased to be able to offer an exciting role as a Junior Back-End Developer You should have a degree in a computing-related subject that has taught you back end skills and software engineering and you should have some experience coding in either PHP or C#.

Job Role:

You will work on a variety of digital solutions, developing custom software, intranets, apps, database systems and websites. You will work with open source content management systems such as WordPress and Umbraco; some back-end experience in either would be an advantage.

They expect you to be keen to learn and enthusiastic about building solutions that meet their clients' needs; their clients include the DVLA, Ministry of Defence, NHS and Hewlett Packard.

Key Responsibilities:

As a junior, you will work alongside senior back end developers, one of whom will be your mentor, gradually taking on more responsibility yourself. You will gain invaluable experience and have an opportunity to increase your skills whilst at the same time helping them continue to provide excellent client services. You will use and develop the skills listed below in this role, though they don't expect you to have experience of all these now.

* PHP and/or ASP.NET with C#

* Database design and development (MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle)

* WordPress and Umbraco

* Websites and web-based applications built with HTML and CSS

* JavaScript and jQuery

* Third-party APIs (Google Maps, Facebook, Twitter)

* Web services (REST or SOAP)

* XML technologies (XSD, XSLT, XPath)

Whilst you may not have experience in all of these, it's important you are enthusiastic about programming and software development and you love to learn about new technology. They're looking for people who are as excited by technology as they are and keen to be part of their team. This is very much a role for someone who wants a career as a back end developer and has a keen interest in that area.
