Role: Business Analyst

Duration: 3-6 months

The role sits within the Delivery Team reporting to one of the Project Managers in the team. The output of the Delivery Team drives the change to support the strategic and tactical goals of the organisation to deliver growth across the business.

Responsible for compiling the requirements of the business the role holder will work with stakeholders and business owners to extract the information required to support the changes.

The overall goals of the Delivery Team are as follows:

· The department will provide end-to-end project management. It will facilitate process ownership and control through consistent process documentation and change control. It will own delivery responsibility, making things happen from start to finish.

· The department will operate as a gateway for change. It will be dependent on support from many other departments and deliver in to departments that sponsor the demand on the Delivery Team.

· Ensure consistent approach and clear understanding of project delivery across the organisation

· Centralised team - pool of resource with investment in project skills and recognised business area expertise

· Clear definition of scope and responsibilities vs Business as Usual

- Projects

- Initiatives

- Investment appraisal

- Opportunity identification and risk mitigation

· The department will be proactive in analysing new business opportunities and providing business improvement initiatives and evaluation of these in line with business strategy.

· The department will review progress, be able to source as required benchmark best practice knowledge, both internally and externally, and apply this knowledge to assess proposals for projects and initiatives. It will also analyse long-term needs and assist in strategy and planning for changes to business processes and systems.

· The Department will support the implementation of System and Business Process change

Key Responsibilities

1. Analysis

Working with business departments to define the functional, non-functional, data and infrastructure requirements for business purposes and the high level approach to delivery of those requirements. This will include some or all of the following depending upon the nature, size and composition of the project:

* To gather high level requirements and produce output into a requirements document

* To validate requirements with peer support

* Identifies what business knowledge is required and has some knowledge to pursue the task

* Contribute to the construction of process flows and mapping of 'as-is' processes and gain understanding of how they interact and support business objectives

* Contribute to the definition, development and validation of process improvements leading to the 'to-be' processes and business requirements according to agreed documentation standards

* Support impact assessments from current to future state

* To input into the production of the non-functional requirements

* To input into the infrastructure requirements in consultation with Business units and IT

* To support the prototyping of solutions as a means of establishing the user requirements

* Gathers information of options available to feed into recommendation process for stakeholders to reach desired outcome

2. Implementation

* To input into the production of functional specifications ensuring understanding of requirements and their implications

* To input into the definition of the operational procedures and to review and validate the solution to ensure consistency with the Business Requirements documentation

* Able to recognise key customer touchpoints within their project and document the high level journey

* Input into training plans and materials in conjunction with Training Department

* Input into the definition of UAT test scripts and validation of results

* To assist in the implementation of new business processes and associated systems

* To assist in the support of system issues associated with any deliveries and liaise with technology to prioritise the incidents/defects through to resolution

3. Consultancy

* Identifies stakeholders needs and identifies their interest and influence within their project

* To provide consultancy support to the Project Managers to develop business strategies

* Input into and support investigations on feasibility and implications of proposals

* Support the Business Owner in Post Project Review tasks

4. Service Improvement

* To actively support and "champion" defined standards

* To input into the review of existing services and processes on an ongoing basis in order to continually improve service levels

* To work within the overall strategy and standards framework. To maintain, propose and make improvements to process standards to maintain a culture of continuous improvement

5. Digital and Telecommunications experience

The successful applicant will have the following specific Digital and Telecoms industry experience:

· Experience of Wholesaling Telecommunications products. This should include:

o Ethernet.

o Broadband (DSL & FTTC).

o Talk.

· Experience of Talk billing and invoicing. This will include:

o Talk Mediation.

o Customer Data Records.

· Implementation of Talk and Broadband products to market (preferably B2B).

· Knowledge of Ofcom general conditions.

· Experience in the sales and service of Telecommunication products through digital platforms.
