Agile Business Analyst

Crewe, North West - there may be some flexibility but there is a need to work predominantly in the Crewe office on a weekly basis

There’s never been a more exciting time to join the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra). Decisions made at here affect the whole of the United Kingdom. Responsible for the environment, the countryside and the rural economy, our diverse teams deal with a vast range of issues that profoundly impact on people’s day-to-day life.

Leaving the European Union will also have a considerable bearing on our work - with Defra affected by 25% of all EU legislation and it is crucial that we align our short- and long-term plans with the current EU exit negotiations.

So, to meet the challenges ahead, we have set up an EU Exit Programme to manage and coordinate Defra’s interests in the UK’s EU exit. This transformation will be supported by our DDTS EU Exit Programme, in areas where our digital, data and technology services are affected.

As an Agile Business Analyst, you’ll play a key role in the delivery of this programme. Analysing propositions, mapping risks and proposing mitigation solutions, you’ll work closely with product managers to define approaches and skill requirements. You’ll work with the owning department to ensure they have the budget and resources to cover the proposed approach. Defining how predicted user and financial benefit can be realised you’ll make recommendations for action, rationalising complex information to make it understandable for stakeholders at all levels.

To be equal to the challenge you should be experienced in analysing digital/web services in a fast-paced environment. You should be familiar with a range of digital services and solutions, with a strong understanding of Agile and Waterfall Project Management delivery, and open source and cloud technologies. You’ll also need experience of business change, rationalisation and transformation.
