We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable professional to bring the expert capacity needed to meet the challenges of information security across this diverse and dynamic organisation. This post, reporting to the Group Director of Technology, has been newly created and reflects United Learning’s scale and complexity.

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’. Headquartered in Peterborough, with offices in London and Salford, the central office function exists to support schools educationally and to provide services effectively and efficiently.

As the Information Security Manager at United Learning, you will work with colleagues at the centre and in schools to:

Take the lead on information security for the whole organisation, determining policy, identifying and mitigating risks and maintaining expert up-to-date knowledge of best practice;

Ensure the high availability and effectiveness of centrally delivered systems through rigorous governance and security measures;

In partnership with the group’s Data Protection lead, design and implement an assurance process to ensure information security at school level.

You will have a background either data protection or cyber security, strong experience in the creation of policy and the robust governance of software systems and strong working knowledge of the technologies and techniques used to keep information secure.

The role is based in our Peterborough office, but flexible working arrangements could be agreed with the right candidate and United Learning has a relocation policy for successful candidates willing to relocate.

Benefits

In this role, you will be able to work within a talented central technical team at the heart of a large organisation, making a tangible impact on the lives of young people across the country. In return, you will receive first-class development, a dynamic working environment, a range of employee benefits and a competitive salary.

Where support is better shared.
