We are seeking a HPC Systems Engineer to join our dynamic Scientific Computing Team. The successful applicant will help administer Linux based computing and storage systems used for scientific data analysis at the CRUK Manchester Institute, and will support users by providing and administering servers and services using virtualization technologies. Calculations are performed on a 2,000 core HPC Linux cluster that is attached to several storage systems and resides in a dedicated state of the art water-cooled data centre on site.

The Scientific Computing team provides a stimulating and motivating work environment that encourages and supports continuous training in this area. The successful applicant will have profound experience in administering HPC Linux Clusters and the ability to write scripts and experience administering different types of Linux server. They will have a proven ability to work effectively within a team.

The post will suit an applicant looking to join a highly interdisciplinary environment that combines biology with computer science, mathematics and software engineering, with the end goal of advancing our understanding the cancer genome.
