The council is expanding and developing its in-house corporate Information Governance function to meet current and future challenges in information management, security and assurance and to exploit opportunities for more effective information sharing.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to play a leading professional and key strategic role in establishing and developing the corporate Information Governance function including designing and implementing an effective Information Governance framework across the council and its operations.

You will be required to take a proactive approach to developing the council’s arrangements, working with managers and staff at all levels within the organisation and providing support and guidance to both employees and elected members in meeting their information responsibilities.

You must be able to demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge and ability, whilst also possessing excellent communication and organisational skills. The post is responsible for supervising and monitoring the work of the Information Governance Assistant whose responsibilities are focused on the administration and coordination of routine demands surrounding information management, including requests under the Freedom of Information Act, the Data Protection Act and liaison with the Local Government Ombudsman.

The hours of work are 37 per week, working Monday and Friday and you will be based at Lancaster Town Hall.
