BI ANALYST/DEVELOPER

POSITION SUMMARY

Using your analytical skills, by understanding and interpreting business data and reporting needs of the business then coordinating this with the data structures and reporting mechanisms, whilst adhering to company BI & Data standards.

There will be elements of designing, developing and supporting BI & Data solutions that will aid evidence based decisions, process and efficiency improvement and customer satisfaction. You will also be critical in coordination of data management governance, formulating and providing data quality statistics and exceptions.

An integral member of the Global BI & Data Team working collaboratively to drive forward the BI & Data strategy and operational services, standard and policies.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

* Design and implement standard reporting and self service models to support BI and Data Users needs

* Work with the business and systems teams to identify and develop improvements to system capability and process

* Work closely with the systems teams, to pinpoint data quality issues using governed analytics to help drive improvement in data quality and data management

* Creating regular rhythm with the global data owners/stewards and how best to support these business functions

* Adhere to BI Best practice and help with evolution of this and with the Data Factory

* Write system documentation for models and data processes

* Create reports from OLAP/ROLAP models to answer User requests

* Provide user support for BI and Data systems in collaboration with support team and virtual team members

* Improving the efficiences on operational activities by designing, developing and delivering effective BI

* Provide a service to the customer to maximise the benefit derived from BI & Data solutions

* Think creatively with regards to report and solution design

* Manage data and report change requests by working closely with key stakeholders and following IT control processes

* Support the MDM process and global governance thereof

* Other duties as assigned.

EXPERTISE REQUIRED:

* Proven experience in IBM Cognos Analytics v11, especially Dashboarding is esstential

* Experience in data manipulation, extraction (SQL, MDX) or data analysis

* Practical SQL experience: Transact, SSIS/DTS

* Understanding of business process or standard operating procedures

* Understanding of ERP relational databases e.g JDE, SAP, Oracle

* Strong team player, innovative and able to challenge

* Good communication skills and ability to stand in from of a business audience

* Ability to research new ideas and techniques with regards to Data and BI

* Enthusiastic and keen to learn

* Keen eye for detail and good/comfortable working with data
