We are currently looking for a Technical Application Support Engineer for an internationally successful, SME business, with offices based in Bristol. Successful candidates will be providing IT Support to multiple sites, helping support the company's products & services as well technical issues for both internal & external users. This position has come up purely due to growth and success of their niche software product range.

If you feel like you want to move into software development, or more advanced SQL work further down the line then these guys would help you do this.

Core Responsibilities (Many can be taught on the job)

* Trouble-shooting application problem on both customer sites and in-house test environments;

* Diagnosis of complex application issues;

* Replicate / re-produce reported issues on the in-house testing environment

* Understand customer requirements and translate these into new feature request

* Log issues reported by customers that can be understood by the development team;

* Ensure documentation is in place to enable the support of the product

* Contribute to planning and estimation of development and support tasks;

* Maintain both test and dev environments;

* Manage the support backlog;

* Providing 24/7/365 on-call support to contracted clients in rota of 4-5 and providing out of hours trouble-shooting, product support when required;

* Maintain technical documentation on the knowledge base space.

Professional Skills / Experiences:

Essential:

* Strong Analytical / Trouble-shooting skills;

* Excellent communication skills;

* Attention to detail

* Experience using bug tracking applications;

* Experience of investigating, managing and resolving incidents / requests;

* Work as part of the team to support and maintain the live product.

* Basic SQL experience and experience with MSSQL Server.

Desirable: (Not essential)

* VMWare station, VM player.

* Strong IT skills including remote desktop, VPN, Networking.

* Understanding of working in a complex integrated software development environment.

* Agile Methodologies.

* Experience with engineering software is an advantage.

Package:

Salaries are paying up to £35,000 Plus a good on call bonus (1 week in 4/5) plus overtime, plus 5% Pension, plus 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
