My client is a privately owned, family run company with a headquarters in Cheshire. They pride themselves on their personal yet professional approach which makes them the leading provider of banking services in England and Wales.

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Database Analyst to join their team in Cheshire.

Your Responsibilities:

* Acts as a key contact point (Lead) for any project related queries including build, testing and implementation and supports less experienced colleagues through the entire project process.

* Provides comprehensive technical verbal updates of project status to team and produce non-technical written updates for project managers and business.

* Represents Mainframe area at project meetings and provide any inputs to help plan projects.

* Provides architecture solutions to the project which are in line with new technologies and is able to communicate the benefits of the chosen solution

* Provide expert guidance on the resolution of incidents and problems and the implementation of change for team and projects. Proactive identification of possible major incidents. Provides the governance, technical authority, leadership and direction necessary for the resolution of technical issues. Lead and use initiative to deliver optimum solutions and mitigate any service impact.

* Monitor database capacity and performance to ensure that the applications receive an optimal service at all times

* Analyses complex changes and ensure the more effective resolution is selected to resolve. Lead in the implementation of complex changes, teaching colleagues from own methodologies

* Provides 24*7 operational support (on-call)

* Implement standard customer solutions

* Understands customer needs and priorities in providing high quality services. Has considerable latitude for making decisions within the team. Well known and recognised by local leadership team.

* Is a team player but can operate independently. Pays great attention to detail but can execute at speed. Has good skills for information gathering. Is focussed on growing talent and capability.

Your profile:

* Previous DBA experience in DB2 or IMS (ideally both but they will look at one or the other)

* Working knowledge of JCL/TWS/TACF

* Strong understanding of IBM / BMC / CA (need this to manipulate databases)

* Experience in the identification of performance, capacity and contention issues
