3 month contract, possible extension.

Location: First 2-4 weeks = Rosyth. 1/2 x per month following

Job description/Person specification

Role Purpose:

To develop and win profitable business within the Maritime / Marine Engineering domain. This will be achieved through the development and ownership of customer relationships, across the UK Ministry of Defence, UK maritime industry primes and across academia and the commercial shipping domains. Significant travel within the UK will be required. There may be additional requirements to support the development of opportunities from overseas.

Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager for Ships and Submarine Platform Design and Life Support and through to the UK Business Development Director.

Key Accountabilities:

1 Delivery of a sales pipeline including the development of new business propositions to deliver both in-year and future success.

2 Management of a portfolio of qualified opportunities to achieve a specific sales target based on a particular domain within the Maritime environment. Overall sales target will typically exceed £1M.

3 Provide accurate and timely opportunity forecasting of Order Intake targets.

4 Provide timely market/customer intelligence within the Maritime and Marine Engineering domain.

5 Provide input to shape, implement and drive a sales strategy that aligns with the QinetiQ Corporate Vision and the delivery team's Integrated Strategic Business Plan.

6 Actively seeks to build and maintain trusting relationships with a wide network of relevant people in the industry, customer and QinetiQ, leveraging these relationships appropriately.

7 Works collaboratively with the wider BD teams in QinetiQ to support Integrated Capture Teams and Integrated Delivery Teams and the pursuit of campaigns both across the Group and within the business.

8 Accountability for meeting individual and team business Order Intake targets as well as the longer term sales pipeline development and performance objectives.

9 Ensures that their own performance positively impacts the performance of the wider sales and delivery teams

10 Takes personal accountability for organising themselves and others to deliver for the customer and QinetiQ; consistently takes the initiative and drives to achieve outcomes.

11 Contribute towards a professional Business Winning culture based on the QinetiQ Core Business Winning competencies.

Successful outcomes of this role:

1 Demonstrable achievement of winning profitable and deliverable business for QinetiQ.

2 Demonstrable growth in both delivered orders and future pipeline in the Maritime and Marine Engineering domain market segment allocated.

3 Accurate forecasting of future sales pipeline.

Key Capabilities/Knowledge:

1 Credible experience within the Maritime / Marine Engineering UK Defence market and/or commercial shipping market as a supplier, customer or user.

2 Demonstrable experience in a Sales / Business Development role.

3 Skilled at developing and maintaining client and business partner relationships.

4 Knowledge of Defence acquisition processes (desirable)

5 Knowledge of MOD test, evaluation and acceptance processes (desirable)

6 Evidence based examples of many or all of the following key competencies, commerciality, resilience, taking ownership of issues, innovative thinking, clear and credible communication, experience of working across functional boundaries and relationship building.

Person Specification - Experience & Qualifications:

1 Existing UK security clearance or the lack of any impediment to achieving this status is essential.

4 An advocate and practitioner of winning business, liaising with customers, partners and internal stakeholders to deliver winning propositions.
