Required to undertake IT investment planning project. Working under the direction of the Senior Business Analyst the roles are required to take responsibility for the investigative work to determine medium-term business needs; to identify those information systems impacted by business needs; to support the team scoping investment options against those needs; and to prepare documentation to support a regulatory submission.

The analysts will support the identification of key business stakeholders, then engage with those stakeholders to plan and conduct investigations; deploying a full range of analysis skills and techniques to elicit and document business needs. Interactions with business stakeholders will generate candidate proposals for information systems change; the Business Analysts will need to review each proposal will the in-house architecture team and present investment options back to the business, iterating until agreement on an investment opportunity has been reached. Each analyst will be expected to continually balance advocacy and criticism of proposals to ensure that the emergent investment options meet quality requirement and reflective of real business need.

The role will require analysts that are fully competent in a range of techniques - and can draw on experience of defining information systems requirements in a complex environment. Completely self-starting the role will require individuals who can work autonomously to plan, balancing priorities and ensuring the primacy of business needs in all interactions.

Main responsibilities-

* Eliciting business needs for information systems investment as part of programme of regulatory investment planning

* Undertaking analysis on business needs to identify information systems; organisation; and process impacts

* Documenting business needs in a manner consistent with regulatory investment planning and internal BIS processes

* Supporting the Senior Business Analyst in defining a stakeholder engagement plan

* Working closely with Business Relationship Managers to classify and document existing business needs/requirements and goals

* Plan and Lead business engagement sessions to develop business needs

* Support Senior Business Analyst in the identification of Business, Data, Application and Technology architecture impacts of proposed change

* Where appropriate undertake research to develop and support proposals (market-trends, industry best-practices etc)

* Create lucid and compelling documentation in support of business needs

* Mediate and manage interactions with in-house architecture team to develop investment proposals

* Plan and manage work to achieve agreed objectives

* Any other tasks as reasonably required.

Specifications/Qualifications

* Experience of leading business analysis within an enterprise organisation

* Experience of undertaking business analysis within an IT focused team

* Expertise in many multiple business analysis techniques

* Awareness of TOGAF and related architecture practices an advantage

* Good communicator at multiple levels and across multiple disciplines

* Team Player, able to provide input into a multifunctional team; experienced and confident dealing with specialists from technical domains of architecture

* Self-motivated, capable of working with limited supervision, pro-actively reporting on status and tasks

* All Applicants must hold valid right to work in the UK

* It is desirable (although not necessarily critical) that the candidate has experience within utilities; or a comparable regulated industry.
