Can you drive change, manage stakeholders and focus on delivery? Make your skills count - join us at the heart of nuclear regulation
Are you a driver of change, focused on delivery and a strong stakeholder manager capable of leading people through large programmes of change, then if so your programme and project management experience could take you anywhere. So how about Nuclear Regulation?
Both strategic and operationally minded with a keen eye for digital improvement you will have the opportunity to help ONR deliver high profile projects of change, some of which may even have significant public interest.
The Challenge
A fast-evolving public corporation, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is committed to shaping the future of regulation in the UK Nuclear Industry. To help us achieve our ambitions, we need two Programme Managers who can hit the ground running and help embed programme and project management within the organization.
The Role
Whichever role you take in our PMO, you’ll get involved in a range of projects focused around people, digital, regulation or finance. Able to make an impact from day one, you’ll have the chance not only to design projects, but also see them through to successful delivery.
You’ll shape and lead major change initiatives to enable the realisation of business strategies while optimising resources and benefits across projects to ensure the delivery of outcomes that meet cost, quality and timescale objectives. Working as part of a dynamic team, you’ll help to establish ONR as a mature, world-class regulator.
The Person
Operating as a Programme Manager (or in a similar role), you’re working closely with or for the public sector on a wide range of change projects. Known for your resilience, adaptability and sheer enthusiasm for making things happen, you’ll be an expert in detail, dependency and risk management. You will also act on your own initiative to drive momentum and delivery, overcoming obstacles by working as part of a team. Able to take ONR with you though the delivery and management of change, you’ll lead by example as we develop and transform.
A current project management qualification, such as Prince II Practitioner, MSP, or equivalent, will be essential. Above all, your flair for building relationships at all levels and across the organisation, particularly mentoring staff and developing effective project teams, will make you stand out.
The Rewards
We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £50,446 - £57,771. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for an incredibly substantial Civil Service Pension scheme and a very generous holiday entitlement.
About us
ONR is a Public Corporation with a mission to ensure the highest standards of safety and security across all of the UK’s licensed nuclear sites. Our staff are drawn from a wide range of professional backgrounds in order to run a stand-alone business. There are specialist inspectors working in core functions including: civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics, in addition to specialised corporate services that support operational delivery. And, together, they’re involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites and communicating our decisions, to training new recruits, implementing policies and representing the UK and ONR within the wider, international nuclear community.
