Linux/Unix System Admin - Solaris, Redhat, Metlab, Python, R
An experienced Linux/Unix System Support Analyst support analyst is required to work within the High Performance Computing team. The main purpose of the team is to deliver a reliable High Performance Computing service to the research functions within the organisation.
The candidate for this role should possess a good knowledge of high performance computing principles and practices as well as an appreciation of cloud technology trends that will enable them to map those trends to future user needs and requirements.
The successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role in providing hands-on assistance to academics and researchers in customising and improving applications to meet the research needs. By driving best practices and methods of working the candidate will aim to provide a more efficient and cost effective HPC solution.
In addition the candidate will be expected to assist with setting up and supporting the local HPC environment as well as maintain the aspects of the service that extend into the Cloud. Good knowledge of Linux is expected and expertise with open source software would be an advantage.
*Educated to Degree-Level (or equivalent) in a technical subject or relevant work experience.
*Experience of producing appropriate scripts and programming to support applications.
*Knowledge and experience of working with HPC applications
*Working knowledge of parallel programming techniques
*Experience supporting applications on Linux and Windows virtual servers.
*Knowledge of and experience in using HPC related hardware and software
*Understanding of Cloud Service
