Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join on a contract basis (6-12 Months). As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our data analytics initiatives. Your role will involve working closely with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to develop scalable and efficient data solutions, enabling the extraction, transformation, and loading of large volumes of diverse data from various sources. Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable data solutions.Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration workflows to ensure timely and accurate data delivery.Build and optimize data models, schemas, and databases to support data analytics and reporting requirements.Implement data quality and validation processes to ensure data integrity and consistency across systems.Identify and address performance bottlenecks, data quality issues, and data-related challenges to improve overall system efficiency.Monitor data processing systems and troubleshoot data-related problems to ensure uninterrupted data availability.Evaluate and recommend appropriate tools, technologies, and frameworks to enhance the data engineering infrastructure.Document data engineering processes, standards, and best practices for future reference.Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Proven experience as a Data Engineer, developing and maintaining data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration workflows.Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with experience in data manipulation, transformation, and analysis.Proficient in working with SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.Experience with cloud-based data engineering platforms, such as AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue) or Google Cloud Platform (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow).Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data processing technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka).Understanding of data modelling concepts and data warehousing principles.Strong problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented mindset.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.If this sounds like something you’re interested in, I would love to speak with you - please apply now or reach out to Jonathan Courtney.
