The Health and Life Sciences Faculty at Coventry University are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Technician/ Skills Coordinator to work in our Health Simulation and Clinical Skills suite. This role will contribute to the effective running of the facilities and provide essential support to our undergraduate health and social care programmes and health professionals engaged in continuing education and professional development. You will support teaching across a range of disciplines, including Nursing, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.

In this role you will be responsible for supporting academics in the use of AV technology to livestream and record sessions and distribute recordings to students. You will be operating and maintaining our simulation manikins and setting up equipment for skills teaching and demonstration.

You will provide skilled assistance, technical guidance and training to students, academic and research staff both on and off site, advising on relevant techniques and observing safety precautions at all times. You will provide general health and safety supervision of students using equipment and working in laboratories, ensuring safe methods of working in accordance with statutory and University requirements.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of specified laboratories and workshops, ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of their area of responsibility. You will contribute to the Faculty's research and consultancy work by actively participating in experimental work.

You will also be responsible for the organisation, installation, maintenance, safety and security, where appropriate, of all equipment and machinery used in the laboratories, liaising with external bodies as necessary.

Person Specification:

You should hold a BSc (or equivalent) or GNVQ Level 4 in a health or science related discipline or significant relevant work experience

Experience of working with AV technology

Experience of providing technical support for clinical simulation-based teaching and calibrating, maintaining and updating equipment.

Must be prepared to contribute to and develop skills in the operation of a wide range of specialist workshops and laboratories.

You will be proactive and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

A willingness to learn new skills and develop is essential for the post.
