Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing:You will be trained and supported throughout your apprenticeship and employment, including support with gaining your Engineering Technician Apprenticeship qualification.As an Apprentice Machinist/Toolmaker you will learn how to undertake the highly skilled, complex and specialist detailed work of manufacturing and maintaining the engineering equipment used to produce plastic packaging in our factory.This requires interpreting drawings and technical instructions and the use of manual milling machines and lathes also with manual fitting skills.You will:Be developed to be competent using engineering drawings and technical specifications to set and operate machineryLearn how to receive and check materials ensuring that they are available and correctFollow processes and use proven techniques, including setting up work holding using chucks, fixtures and vices and specialist toolingBecome competent planning how to complete milling/turning operationsBecome competent using conventional mechanical measuring equipment including Vernier's, Micrometre's to check that work is correctBe responsible for assisting with mechanical breakdowns when requiredBe responsible for assisting on mechanical projects when requiredComplete required job logs including liaising with supervisors to obtain sign-offComplete daily checks on equipmentFollow Safe Working PracticesAdhere to Health & Safety and environmental procedures and regulationsA Few Things About You:A commitment to undertake an Apprenticeship over 4 years which requires regular attendance at a local college with ongoing assessmentsPossess Maths and English GCSEs at Grade 4Possess good hand to eye co-ordination and hand skillsA can-do attitude, able to overcome obstacles with a team approachSelf-motivated and can work under pressureAbility to follow instructionsExcellent attendance and timekeepingHave the means to get to and from our premises for the working hours belowWhen you'll be working:You will be working a rotating pattern of 7am - 4pm and 9am - 6pm, Monday to Friday.40 Hours per week.This will include time to undertake your studies through a college or training provider.Who We Are:Flexipol is in its 28th year, and during this time the business has grown steadily each year, providing long term secure employment.The company is BRC certificated and is an approved food packaging supplier to key manufacturers in the UK and internationally, such as those in the Marks and Spencer supply chain.The Company prides itself on its innovative approach to product design and manufacturing, along with an excellent reputation for high-quality customer service.We believe that our success is due to our unique blend of technical collaboration, innovation and extraordinary service and most importantly, the skills, team work and dedication of our employees.Why work for us:In-house training with progression opportunitiesOpportunity to gain an industry recognised qualificationWeekly PayCompany Bonus Scheme (Based on performance, paid up to twice yearly)Employee Assistance ProgramEmployee Referral SchemeLife InsuranceCycle to work schemeFlexipol is an Equal Opportunities and Age Positive Employer.Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
