Do you have a good understanding of data integration and ETL tools and data management processes and principles plus  strong Java, SQL and ETL knowledge - including performance tuning? Then join Shelter as a Data Integrations Developer and you could soon be playing a vital role at the heart of our Data and BI team.

About Shelter

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.

We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.

About the team

Within a wider Technology and Data department, our Data and Business Intelligence team leads the development of data management and governance across Shelter, ensuring that business change is driven by data informed decisions and intelligent insight. Indeed, the team is pivotal in leading the change to embed data within our culture and ways of working - and we want someone like you on board.

About the role

We're looking for a technical expert with experience of developing and maintaining ETL routines (preferably using Talend) to move data between enterprise applications (a mix of both in-house and external and on-prem and in the cloud). We'll also rely on you to get to grips with existing ETL tool business logic/rules and data sources/targets and resolve production issues with any of the Talend routines. Performing unit testing of development activity before submitting them for SIT/UAT will be important too, as will developing technical documentation, including requirements documents, process overviews, data models, data flow diagrams, etc. In short, it's an interesting and varied role offering an ideal opportunity to further develop.

We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.

About you

You'll need proven experience of designing and developing ETL mappings, transformations, business rules and workflows, and scheduling and deploying the resulting integration solutions, preferably using the Talend Cloud Data Management tool and associated modules. You'll also need a good understanding of CRM applications (e.g. MS Dynamics) and data warehouse solutions (e.g. Azure). Comfortable working independently and proactively, experience of using the Talend cloud data management platform/Adobe Campaigns would be an advantage . And if you have expertise in performance tuning ETL processes and/or a working knowledge of Data Vault modelling and Microsoft Dynamics, even better, although this is not essential.
