Employment Law/HR Consultant

12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave (possible permanent role at the end of the fixed term)

Remote working - with a requirement to attend our offices in Wilmslow, Cheshire on an as required basis, as well as client site visits across the UK

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and hard-working Employment Law/HR Consultant who is already working at a HR Manager or Senior Advisor level to support in the delivery of our HR and Employment Law support services. This is a role for a self-motivated and service-oriented employment law or HR professional, who will enjoy the challenge of working with businesses of different sizes, across varying sectors to deliver employment law advice and strategic and operational HR initiatives.

The role is fast paced, varied and challenging with no two days the same. You will be working with a variety of clients, some with HR teams who require employment law support and strategic HR advice, others who have little or no internal HR provision, to design and develop their whole HR plan and support them with employee relations.

Employment law and employee relations matters include:

performance management;

disciplinary and grievance procedures;

sickness absence management;

drafting Contracts of Employment and contractual agreements such as training agreements, deduction from wages agreements;

drafting Company Handbooks and Policies;

TUPE processes and consultations;

Union negotiations;

Redundancy and restructure consultations; and

settlement agreements.

HR support will include people focused projects that could cover culture, engagement, recruitment, performance management, retention strategies, HR system implementation and reward and benefit.

Skills / Experience

At least 2 - 3 years' experience in an employee relations or employment law role

Advisor/Manager capacity with experience covering day to day employee relations matters and generalist HR work

A strong commercial aptitude showing a good understanding of business and what drives strong performance

Strong relationship building skills, able to build credibility with key contacts and stakeholders at a senior level and deliver value

Confident and articulate with strong communication skills

Service oriented with a desire to get it 'right first time'

Self-motivated with a good level of drive and enthusiasm, ability to work with minimal supervision

Strong computer skills including Word, Powerpoint and Excel

Good project management skills and the ability to prioritise and manage expectations

A drive to deliver

CIPD qualified

Flexibility to travel when required as clients are based all over the UK and Ireland. Must be able to drive and have own car.
