This leading developer of communications systems is seeking a Software Architect to be based at their design centre in Munich. The Software Architect will be responsible for defining Linux based software architecture for PON and wireless networks that will be used to connect the growing number of smart devices in the home with the cloud.  The Software Architect will be working closely with the Software Development and Chipset Silicon Engineers defining next generation architecture specifications plus modifying the existing architecture. The Software Architect will be instrumental in the design and development of emerging communications technologies and for a family of fibre based SoCs (PON). You will have an expert knowledge of Linux kernel, drivers, networking and the open-source community. This should include hands on Linux kernel and driver development using C preferably gained in a networking / protocol stack development environment. You should also have a successful track record of delivering complex software / system architectures including requirements management and architecture definition. Exposure to effective architectural ‘trade offs’ would also be beneficial as would any knowledge of RDK, OpenWRT or PON standards.
