Data Strategist/ Architect LeadOur Higher Education client seeking an Interim Data Strategist/Architect Lead for an initial 3 month period to take forward the implementation planning for UEA's digital transformation. The University is embarking on a period of significant digital transformation which will impact on all areas of the organisation. Whilst addressing major legacy technical debt issues, we are also seeking to modernise all aspects of our digital and data infrastructure and deliver priority change projects in support of our staff, students and other stakeholders. ResponsibilitiesConduct maturity assessments to develop a clear 'as-is' state of current data capabilities, data landscape, data architecture and identify opportunity gaps.Review and recommend a new 'Data Management Operating Model' including resource, skills and vendor support, and help bring data to the forefront of our decision-making cycle by defining the tools and techniques to turn well-governed data into meaningful insights for a diverse mix of end-usersUnderstand the challenges and capabilities relating to Big Data, data ownership, standardisation, real-time read & write and data-driven user experience and use knowledge to inform a new Target Operating Model that includes data architecture, data quality and business intelligence.Work with the architecture team and other key stakeholders to propose a roadmap of solutions and capabilities which close the maturity gap - including data roles, technology, ways of working, data governance and standards, data literacy and a reduction in data risks.Document data technology roadmaps and the transition from the current architectural framework to target architecture of the future.Define technical infrastructure, standards and procedures for data acquisition and modelling, database design, data integration, reference data management, and Extract/Transform/Load requirements and design.Help guide the University towards the concept of a 'Single View' and assist in developing the transformation initiatives and technology solutions to enable the realisation of this concept.Work with service divisions, research, and academic departments to assess their data opportunities and challenges and work closely with the Business Intelligence team to ensure operational areas ultimately have descriptive data they need, when they need it, in a form they can digest to make sure processes are running efficiently.Be the Digital Transformation Programme's trusted advisor on the Data transformation theme and make it easy for programme delivery teams to acknowledge and embed data considerations when delivering supporting workstreams across the Programme.Develop a strategic data science resource with the required skills and tools for data modelling and intelligence.Ensure delivery is in accordance with and logically contributes to the new Data Strategy and to ensure data handling and process standards are embedded in the Data Management Operating Model. ExperienceExperience of migration of an organisation's data ecosystem and enterprise data to the cloud and away from traditional on-premises data centres or warehouses.Strong experience of data technologies, including cloud, big data and conventional database offerings.Experience of working in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams on complex change or digital transformation programmes. Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders and users with very different levels of technical and data knowledge.Excellent knowledge of the business of Data management & Data lifecycle.A strong understanding of popular database and data warehouse technologies from Microsoft, Amazon (Big Data & Conventional RDBMS), Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse,Experience in ETL solutions, moving data to cloud and designing cloud-based data warehouses/architectures and specifying requirements for data pipelines.Consulting experience & management experience are desirable and a recognised certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect /Big Data or Microsoft Azure Architect would also be an advantage
