The Met Office is recruiting for a Product Manager based at our Exeter HQ with hybrid/ remote working.

Your total reward package is potentially worth up to £52966.00 per annum, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus, employer pension contributions.

As our Product Manager, your starting salary will be £37418.00 with opportunities to progress to £41159.00 over time. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minima.

Job Purpose

As a Product Manager within the Technology Infrastructure and Operations department, the key duties are:

Act as a key member of the Agile delivery team to adapt, challenge, reflect and improve ways of working, to ensure effective outcomes.

Have an in-depth knowledge of users and their needs through effective observation, communication, and analysis.

Develop domain knowledge and product expertise - translating into user stories for the development team.

Maximising the value delivered in a development -taking into account the balance between delivering business benefits and responding to end user needs.

Manage dependency of a development on other directly, or indirectly, related systems or products.

Understand how your product portfolio is performing in relation to customer expectations and feedback, performance measurement and analytics, and with respect to Met Office future lifecycle needs.

Show high levels of collaboration, trust and innovation and contribute towards building a high performing team.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and an ability to quickly develop knowledge of how the development process works in the Met Office.

Demonstrable experience of delivering successfully to deadlines, being prepared to make decisions and knowing when to take calculated risks or escalate issues.

Practical experience of researching and analysing information, using this to create plans and deliver practically against them.

Ability to work independently and as part of a high performing team to deliver objectives effectively.

Ability to quickly develop an understanding of Met Office products and their importance to customers.

Excellent communication skills (spoken, written, and listening) with an ability to work with multiple stakeholders, tailoring your message to different parts of the organisation such as Business, Operations, Technology and Science.
