NHS Digital is the national digital, data and technology partner for the NHS and social care system. We design, build, deploy and operate national products, platforms and data services for patients, clinicians, those who manage the system and researchers in the NHS, academia and the life sciences sector. Our systems serve up to 53 million citizens and 1.3 million NHS staff. Our goal is to maximise the accessibility, quality and utility of health and care data while respecting privacy, transparency and ethics. As such we are responsible for ingesting and processing large volumes of data related to all aspects of health and social care such as hospital care, primary care, mental health, public health and community services.  We build the necessary pipelines to collect the data, and we carry out the processing that makes the data fit for use by analysts and researchers.  Our work supports research, care provision and the policy decisions made within the health and social care system. What's involved, top line A major element of our role since 2020 has been to leverage our data engineering platforms and expertise to support the pandemic response.  Our data processes have supported the delivery of some major elements of the response including the Shielded Patient List, NHS at home initiatives, and the COVID vaccines rollout.   The data in our Trusted Research Environment, and supplied via our DigiTrials service, accessed by UK Universities and health research organisations, has underpinned a range of COVID impact studies.  Of course, amongst all of this new work we have continued to develop and improve our data architecture and to support the work that goes into the development of metadata, reference data and information standards such as SNOMED CT.  We have continued to run and improve our 'business as usual' processes which support analysis and publication across a range of health and care domains, including Maternity Services, Mental Health and Primary Care, as well as providing over 1,000 extracts of data to our research and academic customers each month. NHS Digital needs more Data Engineers to meet the growing demand for health and care data, to ensure that our data assets are secure, efficient, and fit for use and that our customers are provided with the data they need to carry out their vital research. The health and care system has a very rich array of data that benefit patients and citizens and we have invested heavily in the infrastructure required to collect, process and store the data and make it accessible. What we now require are individuals that can process and surface that data and make it available for use for insights and research. What's in it for you A role as part of a dynamic team using data and digital technology to transform health and care. A range of opportunities to build your experience in an environment where your
work has a direct and positive impact. A real commitment to your personal and professional development with access
