Process Improvement Manager

This job is a varied role, working within a well-established company and leader in its field. Working closely with the existing directors and management team the successful applicant should have strong team building skills and a positive, proactive attitude towards continual improvement.

Mechanical experience of heavy machinery would be beneficial (conveyors, crushers, plant). 

Health and Safety:
·        Using a hands-on approach, the active machinery and operations should be observed to ensure these are as safe as is possible and that all safe working practices are being adhered to.
·        Working with our H&S admin staff, new risk assessments should be created when new processes are introduced.
·        Where shortfalls / unsafe situations are identified immediate action should be taken to permanently rectify these.
·        Health and safety issues should be regularly discussed as part of toolbox talks

People management
·        Maintain communication with all shift team members.
·        Focus on ensuring staff are motivated to meet targets safely.
·        Focus on Team building, morale and addressing issues which may work against these.

General caretaking including Environmental and Dust control
·        Ensure processing plant is kept neat and orderly
·        Ensure the maintenance team keep the dust abatement system in full working order and that the system is used correctly by operatives.
·        Ensure any damage to infrastructure is properly reported, investigated and dealt with including repair and reviews to prevent repeat damage.
·        Engage with all teams and focus on constant improvement.

Process and Production
·        Work with all teams to monitor and improve production throughput whilst maintaining quality standards.
·        Identify and improve production ‘bottlenecks’. Gain hands on experience of operating all plant. On occasion it will be necessary to cover operators’ positions, (for example due to illness).
·        Improve communication and information reporting. This may include increasing meetings / toolbox talks as well as investigating better methods of reporting material throughput, logging of breakdowns etc.
·        Keep in regular communication with the yard manager and directly with the directors.
·        Address issues with staff as and when required. Support will be provided from managers and directors.
·        Covering the site managers position during holidays and other absence.

Hours: 

Nominally 40 hours per week Mon - Fri. We envisage this will typically be a set time (To be discussed, possibly 08:00-16:00?). However, allowance should be made at least once per week to take time out of these normal hours to meet with the shift workers. This extra time can be deducted from the hourly total, or may, with mutual agreement be classed as additional overtime.
