My client- a market leading investment bank in the financial and Banking industry are looking for Big Data Platform Manager to join their London site on an initial 6-month contract to manage the MapR (Hadoop) infrastructure of the Big Data platform.Client DetailsMy client is a market leading investment bank in the Financial and Banking industry.DescriptionThe successful candidate for the Big Data Platform Manager contract role will fulfil the following responsibilities -Working closely with the other Data Solution Architects and development teams onshore and offshore to configure and manage the platform.Platform infrastructure designPlatform configuration and performance tuning for use casesMonitoring of platform healthPlanning capacity increaseReporting on platform health, capacity and usageProfileTo be considered for the Big Data Platform Manager 6 month contract the candidate must present evidence of the following -Proven track record with solution architecture for delivery of IT projectsA proven track record of data analytics / big data solution architecture in delivery of large systems including BI and data systems, along with proven Linux OS knowledgeProven technical knowledge of data analytics technologies and Big Data / Hadoop technologies, especially MapRKnowledge of data management tools, e.g. Ab Initio, CallibraA track record of working in onshore/offshore delivery centres, including interaction with geographically distributed clientsAbility to discover and analyse problems, and present solutions in a clear and concise mannerConception of a data warehouse and the different layers to integrate and distribute the data.Knowledge of Big Data technologies (Hive, Drill, HBase, HDFS …) and Hadoop distributions, in particular MapRKnowledge of security and authentication topics on Big DataA track record of leading a Hadoop cluster, with all included services along with Spark development optional. A track record of building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Storm or Spark-Streaming. A track record with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB along with various messaging systems, such as KafkaJob OfferThe day rate for this role is between £600 and £700 per day inside of IR35
