Do you have a degree level qualification in Data Science or a relevant subject, or demonstrable significant equivalent experience within the Higher Education Sector plus excellent knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and SQL? Are you looking for a challenging role in an environment that is open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas? Then join the University of East London as a BI Data Scientist. It's a particularly exciting time here at the University as, under our 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, we're committed to providing students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world. IT Services is playing its part by working collaboratively with the University community to transform UEL's digital landscape in line with that vision. We're also engaged in some  ground-breaking initiatives, each delivered within a dynamically developing cloud environment. This is your opportunity to join us in a brand new role that will   focus on data selection and extractions, analysis, processing and visualisation and the creation of MI and BI reports and all relevant documentation. The University already has an extensive range of business intelligence applications in place that take data from a large number of internal as well as external sources. Your primary aim will be to enhance our current data analytic capabilities and develop a range of predictive models that will help senior managers with their decision-making.  Day-to-day, we'll rely on you to design, create and support of a range of reporting and analytic products to service the University's Data Reporting and Analytics requirements. You'll also be responsible for consulting with senior staff on the availability and quality of data and the capabilities and functionalities of the various tools available, thus leading to the creation and maintenance of management information (MI) and business intelligence (BI) tools and products. And, along the way, you'll also get to undertake and deliver the training it takes to support our MI and BI endeavours. To succeed, you'll need a proven track record in analysing data, identifying patterns and trends and producing valuable insights, plus extensive experience of data extraction, analysis and manipulation. You'll also need impressive knowledge of recognised BI and programming languages (inc. Microsoft Power BI, R, Python, etc)  and be adept at producing  research reports to a high standard for a range of differing audiences. A high level of numeracy and excellent numeric and analytical skills are important too, as is a history of managing large data sets.  Familiar with HE Environments, HE common data sets and key metrics on student retention and progression, you have a flair for creating advanced reports and analytics products. What's more, you're as comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously as you are integrating new data sets into existing tools, while engaging with stakeholders and consulting at Board level comes naturally to you too.  So, if you have what we are looking for and are keen to take on this exciting challenge, get in touch. At the University of East London, we aim to attract and retain the best possible staff and offer a working environment at the heart of a dynamic region with excellent transport links. You can look forward to a warm, sincere welcome, genuine camaraderie and mobility in an institution led with passion, visibility and purpose. Your impact, resilience and sense of collegiality will directly contribute to the University's future and those of the students whose lives you will touch and change forever. We also offer a great range of benefits including pension, family friendly policies and an on-site nursery and gym at our Docklands Campus. For more information and to apply please visit our website. CVs without a completed application form will not be accepted. At UEL we are committed to working together to build a community which values diversity in both our staff and student populations, is representative and inclusive, enabling all to progress and thrive.
