The work of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) impacts on a huge proportion of the population. Every month, we gather thousands of units of blood for transfusion purposes, and we work tirelessly to enable the retrieval and transportation organs and tissues to the optimal patient. Digital, Data and Technology Services play a vital part in this work. And it is within this forward-thinking team that you could find an exceptional challenge, plus the scope to develop your skills and expertise even further.  About the role Taking responsibility for leading the safe and effective delivery of highly complex technology change to a national critical application and associated technology, you will oversee the entire software delivery lifecycle from discovery through to delivery into the live environment. The technology change you manage will be the vehicle through which the blood technology modernisation journey is realised that ultimately will future proof the UK blood supply chain. As an IT Project Manager you will hold a strategic and pivotal role. You will take leading responsibility for managing delivery budgets, a team of delivery managers and acting as the key point of contact for managing any delivery risks, issues and decisions. You will work closely to support the senior delivery lead to ensure the product centre is able to plan, schedule and deliver the change required to realise the modernisation journey. You will also have the opportunity to embed a standardised approach to delivery management and establish a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Outwith the product centre you will have the opportunity to make a real impact by forming part of the delivery community of practice where you will have the opportunity to contribute to best practice as well as learn and develop through collaborating with peers throughout the organisation. About you We are looking for candidates who have considerable delivery management experience, who have a digital, agile mindset along with a positive and can-do attitude. We want you to play a role in supporting the development of our team through mentoring and coaching whilst we provide you the opportunity benefit from the same.  You will use your experiencing delivering technology change to help us realise our ambitious programme goals. We expect you to be well versed in project and delivery management methodologies (both agile and waterfall) and ideally have a related qualification or degree to underpin your practical experience. We will also look for you to Have knowledge of agile and traditional delivery practices, tools and techniques and a solid understanding of the Government Digital Standards (GDS) Have experience in leading design and delivery teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle, getting the most out of your colleagues with your exceptional communication and influencing skills. Have great problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate risks and identify the measures that need to be taken whilst communicating progress to senior executives and boards. Understand the environment, prioritising the most important or highest value tasks, managing complex internal and external dependencies Remove blockers or impediments that affect plans and can develop a plan for difficult situations, ensuring teams plan appropriately for their own capacity, providing delivery confidence Be a team-player who enjoys working with and managing a wide range of senior stakeholders.
