We have an exciting opportunity to join the AMRC group as a Software Developer for the Nuclear AMRC.

As a Software Developer, you will work as part of the Digital Environment group delivering projects looking at digital transformation activities. Housed within Nuclear AMRC's state of the art iHub offices. The digital team is newly initiated and will be expanding to meet demand. As a Software Developer, you will join the Digital Environment group working as part of an agile development team, utilising the latest technology, to deliver research projects of one to 24 months duration.

Digital Manufacturing is one of two key themes within Digital Environment and your role will look at the development of software applications for "the 4th Industrial revolution". Working with some of the largest names in manufacturing and digital technologies, your work will encompass the implementation of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), digital transformation technologies, sensors, data acquisition and integration with the digital environment, for advanced manufacturing systems.

You will work closely with the Technical Leads, Researchers and experienced Engineers to deliver research projects. The projects will be broadly focused on digital manufacturing and engineering design using the latest advanced manufacturing technologies to improve quality, capability and robustness during manufacture; reducing the cost of production, delivering increased performance and productivity. You will be involved in projects that range from research for new product development and introduction, through to controls and instrumentation, automation and verification, to develop and demonstrate robust and world-leading methods of manufacture.

You will have:

A good honours degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.

Be capable of building an application from the ground up.

Be competent in a number of programming languages.

Have good organisational skills.

Need the ability to research, problem solve, design, and implement ideas in a hands-on environment.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including report writing skills and experience of delivering presentations.

The role will be suitable for an engineer wanting to develop their digital advanced manufacturing knowledge and skills using the very latest software and hardware to solve exciting industrial problems. You will be positioned within an important team at the heart of the Nuclear AMRC's strategy for regional growth, providing a critical service to local companies and a significant contribution to the continuing improvement of the Centre & our future capabilities.
