This employer is an independent software and technology consultancy who have clients in the public and private sector. They are delivering exciting new digital services for clients built on Azure, working with large, complex datasets to help inform senior decision makers in government and business. Their multidisciplinary teams have the drive, talent and creativity to take strategies from inception all the way through to successful business adoption. They have an open and collaborative culture, with company away days, hackathons and learning events.

They are hiring data engineers to work in multi-skilled teams on projects in the education, finance and justice sectors.

They are looking for candidates who are conscientious, client-focused, reliable, self-motivated and able to work without close supervision. Candidates should be technically proficient data engineers with at least 3 years commercial experience and have great analytical and communication skills; they should be comfortable working directly with clients and enjoy the variety of working on different projects.

Required skills:

- 3+ years experience in data engineering

- SQL and relational databases (e.g. MS SQL/Azure SQL)

- Data acquisition and development of data sets

- ETL data pipelines

- Improving data reliability, efficiency and quality

- Preparing data for predictive and prescriptive modelling

- Reporting tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI)

- Agile/DevOps working

- GDPR and Government Service Standard

Beneficial skills:

- .Net programming and tools

- Deploying analytics programs, machine learning and statistical methods

- Data analysis and SQL Server Analysis Services

Whilst the majority of their clients are asking consultants to work from home, they are starting to ask consultants to work from office locations from time to time. Therefore, they are looking for candidates who would eventually be able to work on client projects in Coventry, Birmingham and Milton Keynes, with some travel to London possible. Car ownership would be beneficial.
