* Working with the users to understand their requirements and identify any constraints that may impact on the networking solution.
*Determining the network interoperability, dependencies, and interactions.
* Determining technical requirements.
* Working with the customer to develop and refine technological roadmap and High Level Design (HLD).
* Developing, architecting, and documenting Intermediate Level Design (ILD) networking solutions for the Development team to implement, ensuring their coherence across the overall solution and compliance with applicable standards and policies. * Working with stakeholders and the Solutions Team to develop, architect, and document technical patterns for common problems.
* Working with the Solution Engineers to ensure that the design intent is being realised.
* Reviewing and approving Low and Detailed Level Design (LLD and DLD) solutions and supporting artefacts.
* Conducting product assessments for all networking hardware. Technical Experience
* A detailed understanding of network solution architectures demonstrable experience, in design, product selection, deployment, and troubleshooting of networks, in both a Data Centre and operational environment.
* Expert experience of the design, deployment, and troubleshooting of:
o Hierarchical IP Subnetting.
o Routing protocols, internal and external, OSPF, and BGP.
o Network architectures.
o Cisco switching fabrics.
o Cisco IOS XE.
o AAA Management Platform (eg Cisco Identity Services Engine)
o Layer 3 Multicast / PIM
o VXLAN o Firewall IPS/IDS (eg Cisco Firepower)
o WAN management using Cisco IWAN and DMVPN
o Network management including: Cisco ISE, ZTP and automation.
o Hardware licencing servers (e.g. Cisco Licencing Manager)
o Hardware performance and event monitoring (eg Solarwinds).
o Network configuration, including DHCP, DNS, AD.
o Trust/Security Certificate Management using PKI in a virtual environment.
o All aspects of QOS (Traffic Shaping / Policing / Scheduling / Congestion Management and Avoidance).
* Advanced knowledge of hardware security, including:
o NCSC guidelines and security principles.
o CIS security benchmarking and hardening techniques.
o Micro-segmentation.
o IP Cryptography devices. Other Experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
* Ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, information security programmes and technology projects.
* Competent in MS Office Suite.
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and propose new ideas.
* Successfully running a large development team, ensuring delivery timescales are met.

* Hold a current SC clearance and be prepared to undergo DV clearance. Desirable
* Experience of: o Working within the public sector, preferably Defence, and ideally with Defence Digital (formerly ISS).
o Delivering accredited secure solutions within the UK Public Sector.
o Delivering in Agile and Waterfall project management environments
* Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset (JIRA and Confluence) to record and document work.
* A Computer Science university-based education at Bachelors level.
* Currently hold, or working towards networking certification - CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) or similar.
