Job Title: Strategic Project SurveyorLocation: HarrogateSalary: £35,934 - £37,849 per annumJob type: Full Time, Contract (3 years fixed term) (37 hours per week)Closing Date: 09th September 2020The Council is seeking a candidate who will act as the Councils strategic building surveyor to lead the development and project management of significant strategic property schemes and projects.The Role:The successful candidate will have outstanding communication and negotiation skills and excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to solve problems and manage effective relationships.The successful candidate will have a proven track record in construction project management and experience in programming, contract and cost management and delivering construction projects from £0.5m to £15m. You will be able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines, organise and oversee construction procedures, ensuring that health and safety requirements are met, value for money is achieved and the Councils interests are protected at all times.Job Duties:Provides professional advice and recommendations to the Council on a wide range of building surveying and capital project management matters to support delivery of service plan and corporate prioritiesIdentifies/evaluates opportunities to make the councils buildings more efficient and environmentally friendly to run and operateProvides professional advice and direction on building surveying and project management matters to senior officers/members to support delivery of service plan and corporate prioritiesWork with colleagues to build relationships and understanding across the service and the wider CouncilTake responsibility for own work, performance, development and behaviours; using own initiative to ensure that expectations are met for the benefit of the council, their customers and their colleaguesStrive to deliver excellent customer service at all times, by demonstrating a customer focussed attitude as well as commercial awarenessContribute to service improvement work and look for opportunities to continuously improve own performanceKeep up to date with developments and achievements within the service and wider council, seeking opportunities to share knowledge & skills, celebrate success and to learn & improveUndertake any other duties commensurate with the post/grade as directed by your manager or any member of the Service Leadership TeamThe Candidate:Significant experience in building surveying, project management and related property rolesTrack record of designing, procuring and project management of significant building projectsExperience of preparing design/specifications/drawings, budgets, procurement and project managementExperience of leading project teamsProfessional/technical qualification (HNC or equivalent) in relevant disciplineExperienced in the use of Microsoft OfficeSound knowledge of procurement rules and contract conditions for building schemesPractical experience of contractor and project management Understanding of asset condition survey techniquesBenefits:In return there are excellent benefits, including a flexi-time scheme, very generous annual leave entitlement, agile working, a contributory pension scheme, various staff discounts, parking and the ability to purchase additional annual leave.Please click on the APPLY button to complete the application form, attach your CV and Covering Letter for this role.Candidates with the relevant experience or job titles of; Estates Officer, Property Officer, Council Estates Officer, Land Management, Estates Services Officer, Housing Officer, Building Surveyor, Surveyor, Chartered Building Surveyor, Residential Building Surveyor, Senior Building Surveyor, Experienced Building Surveyor, Estates Manager may also be considered for this role.
