At Oxford Languages, our vision is to unlock the power of language for learning and for life. We're a group of dedicated and intellectually engaged people who work collaboratively to build and share language knowledge worldwide.

We offer the chance to participate in stimulating and fulfilling work, where learning, experimentation, and a mission-based agenda go hand in hand with commercial success. The modern business environment is fast-moving, which means we need a diverse range of both people and skills to support our global community of users.

Oxford Languages nurtures innovation and creativity, while staying true to the values that shaped us. With over 150 years of experience in making dictionaries and language resources, we're an organisation with a sense of purpose that comes from our shared mission to support excellence in research, scholarship, and education.

We're looking for 2 Language Information Architects to ensure that our language data is accessible, available, and of high quality throughout its lifecycle. Responsibilities of the role include architecting our data systems, processes and pipelines for maximum efficiency, and building robust data models. The Language Information Architect will research and propose data strategies and policies that further our strategic goals, and act as a key resource for the communication of these across Oxford Languages. Where integration of data systems is required, the Language Information Architect will work with other technology staff to design and validate appropriate architectures, with awareness of non-functional requirements and broader user needs.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate...

  • Experience of working with structured data, such as XML, JSON and related technologies.
  • A pragmatic working approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience of developing data standards, processes and procedures.
  • Experience of architecting and integrating complex data systems.
  • Knowledge of building, maintaining and running data transformation pipelines.
  • Knowledge of QA methodologies and frameworks, both manual and automated.
  • Experience of working with lexical data.
  • Experience of working with big data.
