Job Title: Senior Building Services TechnicianLocation: CambridgeSalary: £26,715 - £30,942 per annum, depending on experienceJob Type: Full Time, PermanentThe Institute is seeking an experienced electrician to join their in-house Building Services team. The role-holder will have undertaken a recognised electrical apprenticeship, be 17th edition qualified and have relevant experience of working in a mechanical/electrical maintenance environment.The Role:The role holder is part of the team responsible for general in-house maintenance of plant, infrastructure and general building equipment with particular responsibility for electrical maintenance throughout the Institute's building. They will proactively identify maintenance issues, identifying faults, diagnosing causes and effecting repair.Responsibilities Include:Receive direct telephone, radio or e-mail communications during the workday from their staff in relation to emergenciesLiaise with their personnel in respect to the nature of the reported fault, the service being carried out, and the effect work will have on their operationsAdvise the Building Services Manager of the parts required; undertake repairs, and take any remedial action, advising their staff of progress, completion and any follow up action requiredLiaise with their personnel in respect to the nature of the installation and the effect of the work on operationsAssess installation requirements on site, determining materials, other trade skills required, builders' work, and anticipated time scheduleAdvise the Building Services Manager where appropriate and obtain materialsCheck all relevant documentation particularly manufacturers' instructions in respect to the installation element of services plant involvedOn completion of practical installation, carry out Test and Inspection of installation as detailed in the current edition of the IET Wiring RegulationsComplete relevant certification including all inspection observations and recorded test values. Provide verbal and/or written report to the Building Services Manager of any deviations from the Wiring RegulationsReport verbally to their staff and the Building Services Manager immediately job has been concluded.
