Job Ref:  16559  Our South East Technical Surveillance Unit (SETSU) provide operational support and central procurement for technical equipment. We undertake the deployment of all technical equipment and specialist services for covert operations in response to Serious Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism operations.  In this role you will provide IT operational capability to SEROCU and other covert teams within the SE Region, in support of investigations/operations into serious organised crimes and counter terrorist operations. You will provide specialised technical services and expert advice in respect of covert surveillance (applying SEROCU and national standards). You will also provide technical services, support and guidance to divisional technical and surveillance officers. You will have in depth knowledge of IT systems and techniques. You will have working knowledge of Information Communication Technology. You must be able to work on own initiative and work effectively within a team.  SETSU are committed to becoming the most diverse team in the South East. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals.  This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.  This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east.
