Job Title: Lead Packaging and Recycling Advisor

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

An exciting new role supporting and delivering an exceptional and all-encompassing service to UK Glass Packaging Manufacturers. In this critical role you will be responsible for keeping members up to date with trade issues, policy changes and other developments, whilst helping to shape government policy and ensuring the industry is well positioned to manage challenges and opportunities.

As part of the Membership Services team, the post holder will work collaboratively with all stakeholders including colleagues, key government policy makers, politicians, customer groups, and will be the point of contact for the glass packaging members.

Activities will include but are not limited to;

Monitoring government policy activity, supply chain engagement and market intelligence

Efficient and effective face to face contact and communications and the building of excellent relationships with key stakeholders is crucial to the success of this role

This is a challenging and rewarding role with opportunity for development and progression. The role will involve regular UK and some overseas travel.

The Role:

Project management and co-ordination of the glass packaging manufacturers' group and related activity ensuring key risks and opportunities are identified and action plans created, implemented and seen through to completion

Develop and support relationships with key stakeholders, including internal colleagues, Industry Senior Management, the wider industry, government officials, the glass packaging supply chain such as brand owners and retailers, key influencers and other relevant associations

Implement strategic communications and engagement plans including; Organisation of and attendance/presentation at meetings, workshops and events to inform and represent the organisation and its members

Represent the organisation at relevant events and meetings in UK and Europe, including delivering presentations and speaking at events on industry related topics where required

Collating, evaluating and presenting the views of the glass container manufacturing industry to stakeholders to ensure the best interests of the industry are represented and that decisions affecting the industry are informed by the latest research and evidence

Plan and deliver projects within agreed timescales and resource allocation, ensuring effective two-way communication with all stakeholders

Working with colleagues within the membership team and in consultation with members, develop and communicate the industry's position on issues affecting the sector

Working with membership functional teams to keep up to date with UK, European and global factors including market conditions, pending policy, legislation, trade, economic, social, H&S, environment issues, the overall business environment and developments that will affect the sector

Prepare briefing notes for their senior management and Members to enable them to convey the agreed messages to stakeholders and other external organisations

Key Requirements:

Relationship management

Efficient and effective communicator to all stakeholders

Project management including setting KPI and reporting progress to stakeholders

Knowledge of how the UK Government (England, Wales, Scotland and NI) devises and implements policies

Knowledge of packaging, preferably glass packaging

Recycling and waste management knowledge
