Working with the Head of Data Protection you will manage data protection activity, embedding a culture of personal data security and leading its compliance with GDPR. Supervising a Data Protection Administrator you will deliver the BAU activities of the company's data protection processes and engaging with the business so that all functions are aware of their responsibilities in managing/protecting data. Client DetailsLeading UK organisationDescriptionWorking with the Head of Data Protection and Head of Legal you will be responsible for managing data protection activity, embedding a culture of personal data security and leading its compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Acting as the main support for the Data Protection Administrator and Junior Data Protection Advisor you will deliver the day to day operations of the company's data protection processes and engaging with the business so that all functions are aware of their responsibilities in managing and protecting customer, employee and other stakeholder data.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESWorking closely with the Legal and Information Security Teams to manage the development and the implementation of core GDPR policies and processes within the business, in line with best practice, legislation, regulation and changing needs Supporting business functions with guidance on completing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) Overseeing the maintenance of relevant records of processing and other documents necessary to ensure compliance with GDPR Ensuring the company's Data Asset Register is complete and up-to-date Overseeing the investigation and management of personal data incidents and data protection related complaints Supporting the business in developing and implementing appropriate post-incident remedial and preventative measures Working proactively and constructively with business managers to help them understand data compliance requirements and how these affect their function's ways of operating Supporting the business in developing and implementing appropriate compliance activity Giving guidance and advice on HR data protection activity Acting in an advisory role on the Information Security Committee (ISC) Working Group, providing recommendations to the ISC and the Compliance Committee on matters related to data protection Providing regular updates on GDPR related activity in the business Responding to external requirements for information on data protection activity Overseeing the development and implementation of data protection training and awareness, e-learning and ongoing communications to the business Leading the data protection team, ensuring they are meeting the standards required in their roles, and supporting in their personal developmentFollowing the Data Protection Policy and associated policies, keeping information confidential and secure, in order to ensure employee and customer data is protected and handled appropriately in line with legislative requirements. KEY REQUIREMENTSDetailed knowledge and understanding of data protection legal and regulatory requirements including DPA 2018 and GDPR.An ability to anticipate and assess risks and potential data protection compliance challenges at a strategic level Demonstrable experience of owning, designing and maintaining data protection systems and processesDemonstrable experience in drafting policies, interpreting legal contracts and report writing Demonstrable experience of leading and delivering behavioural change within a large/complex organisation, to create a 'keep data safe' awareness and compliance culture Evidence of managing data protection compliance in a large/complex organisation. Highly responsive with the ability to manage a large workload alongside rapidly shifting priorities. An experienced people manager. A professional Data Protection qualification or certification Knowledge of IT and cyber security and ISO Certificates is highly desirable ProfileDetailed knowledge and understanding of data protection legal and regulatory requirements including DPA 2018 and GDPR.
