Lead Software Engineer - Newcastle upon Tyne - £60,000

The primary technologies my clients use are PHP, JavaScript (React/Redux), with Python. Data is stored in MySQL, PostgreSQL and Redis. They are constantly evolving our platform and tools to take advantage of the ever-changing tech landscape.What will you do:Lead a team of Engineers working in a cross-functional team using Agile principles in a highly autonomous and collaborative environmentTake ownership of all technical and architecture decisions for your teamWork closely with Product Managers and Scrum Masters to ensure timely deliverySupport, coach and mentor the engineers in your teamWrite clean, well-tested and refactored code alongside the other engineersEstablish a shared team technical vision, aligned with the product roadmapDefine and execute a development roadmap that minimises technical debtChampion software quality The ideal candidate:Believe in culture and work environment. Above all else they value people with a positive attitude and a good work ethic.Self-motivated and have a passion for knowledge, ego has no place in the business.Experience with distributed data processing, real-time data streaming and messaging systemsExperience with container technologies, such as Docker and KubernetesDemonstrate behaviours that encourage a DevOps culture You will be a software engineer with:Extensive software engineering experience using one or more languages including PHP and/or JavaScriptExperience with architecture design while leading software development teamOO skills, strong design and integration patterns knowledgeExperience with Agile and Lean delivery approaches and modern engineering practices, such as clean code, TDD, refactoring, Domain driven design, Continuous integration and deliveryExperience in designing, developing and consuming REST APIs and APIs as productExperience with communicating technical vision and passion for close collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersThe ability to communicate in a concise and focused way, listen to others, and practice patienceWhat's on offer:A fun, friendly, and comfortable working environment.Solid work-life balance is essential.An investment for the long haul.
