MATERIALS TESTING ENGINEER Location: YeovilRate: £25.00 - £30.00/hrDuration: 6 months You will be responsible for supporting various manufacturing and engineering requests for materials analysis, metallographic preparation, evaluation of samples and operation of SEM to support customer requirements. Minimum of a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science/Metallurgy.Minimum 2 years of experience in Materials Laboratory with at least 4 months of experience with SEM analysis.Experience with microstructural, mechanical and physical properties of aerospace materials advantageous.Experience with aerospace materials & process standards (ARPs, AMS, MS, ASTM etc) preferred As a Material Testing Engineer, you will have previous experience of the following:Photo-documentation at both macro and micro levels.Calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory analytical instrumentation and metallographic preparation equipment.Execution of microhardness and hardness measurements and tensile tests.Creation and maintenance of work instructions.Recording and reporting of analysis results using Honeywell web-based LIMS software. Able to work independently with a high degree of compliance to commitments.Support of continuous improvement processes (HOS, VPD, Six Sigma, etc.).Compliance to all corporate and site HSE requirements. Testing activities include (but are not limited to):metallographic specimen preparationmicrostructure evaluationsmechanical testing (hardness, tensile)coatings (coverage, adhesion & thickness)FTIR analysischemical composition analysis (e.g.SEM-EDX)pDSC testing water content in oilsphoto-documentation at both macro and micro scalerecording and reporting of results using Honeywell web-based LIMS software as well as technical report writingutilization of microscopy techniquesexecution of failure analysis of varying type and complexity involving any available investigation techniques To discuss this role in more detail, please contact Stephen Slade on 0161 924 3959
