Software Development Professional Lead

Would you like to Support the Software Engineering Team in BAE Systems Naval Ships? We currently have a vacancy for a Software Development Professional Lead at our site in Frimley.

As a Software Development Professional Lead, you will be acting as the Professional Lead for Software Development in Naval Ships. You will be developing and maintaining Software Engineering Assets (SEA) for Software Development to meet the needs of Naval Ships and the wider Maritime enterprise. You will be supporting the teams by identifying and recording professional knowledge, skills and experience of software engineers within Naval Ships and helping to develop, maintain and enhance software engineering skills across Naval Ship teams.

You will also be advising and assisting projects on applications of the SEA set for Software Development and Supporting the Delivery of these project, production of bids and advising on technical activities providing a route to solve problems and assist with technical and LCM review in respect of Software Development.

This role will give you the opportunity to lead, motivate and promote the whole of Naval Ships Software Development ensuring a sustainable enterprise.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Software Development Professional Lead will involve:

Acting as the Professional Lead for Software Development activities within Naval Ships.

Ensuring ongoing surveillance of Software Development activities by means of measurement, assessment, evaluation and auditing of performance/application.

Ensuring ongoing surveillance of SEA to incorporate and evidence good and best practice for software development and related engineering activities.

Supporting projects to ensure the effective adoption and utilisation of the SEA set in the conduct of software development and related engineering activities.

Ensuring that the SEA set for Software Development remains conformant to applicable legal, regulatory business and engineering requirements (e.g. BS EN ISO 9001:2015).

Developing and maintain a SEA set to define and support Software Development within Naval Ships.

Promoting the adoption and use of the SEA set across the Maritime enterprise.

 

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Credible practitioner with proven experience and knowledge throughout the Software Engineering lifecycle.

Knowledge of processes and tools used in Software Engineering

Knowledge and experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques for data and information processing.

Some knowledge and experience of software intensive naval systems

Degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Scientific or related technical subject

Chartered Engineer or equivalent or capable of achieving registration through an Engineering Council licensed Institution.

 

Desirable:

Good written and verbal communication skills
