As Application Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of eight .Net Developers and Support Analysts. Your responsibilities will fall into 4 main areas:

Development:

This is very much a hands-on role. You will be the technical lead in the delivery of new web applications into the business, ensuring the end product is delivered to specification, on-time and adheres to any agreed quality standards. You and a team of three full time developers will work closely with the Business Analysis and Test teams to agree design and functionality and ensure the project progresses to plan.

Continuous Improvement/Support:

You will also be responsible for a team of 4 developers/analysts, headed up by the Application Services Manager, who are responsible for supporting and improving our existing portfolio of applications. You will ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our applications and environments, work with the Application Services Manager to ensure that service levels are met, and identity any opportunity for improving the existing application landscape. You will also be involved in the acceptance and prioritisation of additional business requirements to amend our current applications as and when they arrive.

Strategy:

You will work with the Head of Application and Data to build and define a strategy for the development of web based line of business applications. You will help identify opportunities to use new technology, especially utilising cloud based serverless architecture to improve performance, efficiency and cost of ownership where possible

Leadership:

You will be responsible for ensuring you and your team identify opportunities for personal and professional development. You will mentor the more junior members of the team and help to expand their skills and abilities where possible. You will attend 1-2-1 meeting with your direct reports and organise team meeting where necessary to disseminate information about covering areas such as project progress, coding standards or the adoption of new technology.

The jobholder will be required to possess excellent leadership, communication and task management skills. Flexibility is essential, as is the ability to adapt with the business' changing needs. The candidate should work well under pressure, and display evidence of excellent problem solving and organisational skills.

Essential Criteria:

You will have proven experience in delivering line of business applications, ideally in a FMCG environment, and display good experience or knowledge of the following:

Previous experience working with various business levels

Demonstrable knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle

Adaptable to change, open to new ideas, and the ability to take on new responsibilities

Experience of managing teams working on multiple projects

Experienced in leading and implementing new innovative solutions within a complex environment

Experience and knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment using Azure DevOps

Extensive experience of some or all of the following:

.Net Core 2.1 or above

Net MVC Core

C#

Azure DevOps (Source control, CI/CD, Agile)

jQuery

Bootstrap

HTML, CSS

Azure SQL Database

Serverless technologies (e.g. Logic Apps, Functions etc
