What we're looking for:

Want to join the Chief Data Office department here at Direct Line Group? We currently have a phenomenal opportunity to build, maintain and support a new cloud based big data platform as part of a large investment plan across data.

We are looking for passionate Data Platform Engineers to join us. If you are an experienced cloud based DevOps Engineers who is looking to join a dedicated team whom will seek to identify improvements and efficiencies, while utilising new technologies and existing tools, do get in touch today.

Who you'll be working with:

Here are the Chief Data Office you will work closely with the senior leadership team, being the subject matter expert in your field and delivering our exciting business change strategy as part of a cross-functional agile delivery team, including analysts, architects, big data engineers, machine learning engineers, and testers.

You will be working as part of a fast growing team, reporting into Paulo Grilo or Rama Karmokar, both Data Engineering Managers both working as part of Nicola Klein, our Chief Data Officer's wider team.

What you'll be doing:

You will have the opportunity to deliver a cloud based big data platform for our engineers to build solid solutions onto, bringing our data closer to our users, and enabling us to cascade down our data in bold and creative ways.

We will be looking to you to help us evolve standard methodologies as we continue on our journey of change, and remain open-minded and ready to adopt to new procedures as we scope out the future.

We need you to work closely with other technology teams to design and implement robust products, services and capabilities for the data platform making use infrastructure as code and automation. Build and support platforms to enable our data engineers and data scientists to build our cloud based big data platform. Create patterns, common ways of working, and standardised guidelines for DLG to ensure consistency across the organisation.

Technology wise we remain open mined. Strong knowledge of AWS and cloud based systems are key of course, as is firm understanding of, and experience with networks and security in a cloud based environment, but to give a flavour; Experience of CI/CD using tools like Jenkins/Bamboo/AWS Code Pipeline/AWS Code Commit and using configuration management using tools like Ansible, Puppet/Chef and code repositories based on GIT will come in handy. As will coding skills in Python, Scala and or Java.

This is a fully Agile team where you will use your knowledge of DevOps and platform level design to make a huge positive impact on a national FTSE100 listed business where data is the prime focus and priority for everyone.
