A Desktop User Support Specialist is required to provide first and second line support to staff and systems (PC, Mac and Linux) as well as acting as an escalation point for more complex issues.   You will be responsible for the testing, troubleshooting and timely distribution of software, along with support for IT infrastructure, hardware and any related troubleshooting.   There is a fantastic range of benefits including 25 days holiday, a pension scheme, onsite accommodations, sports and social club membership, membership facilities and free parking.  As a Desktop User Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include: 
Assisting with the provision of cover for the desk and duties, including logging and dealing with requests made via phone, email or face-to-face.Providing backup cover for the day-to-day management of the service and supervision of other staff in that area in the absence of management.Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues on PCs and Macs.Installing and configuring the software.Building/rebuilding PCs and laptops.Taking responsibility for the timely distribution and scheduling of updates, for both OS and applications, to PC and Mac systems.Maintaining computing hardware and software records database, including ordering and recharging where appropriate for standard Institute software licences.Assisting with the renewal of annual software contracts.Testing and evaluating new software or new versions of the software.Taking responsibility for the installation and configuration of IP phones following standard documented procedures as well as testing and documenting new features and facilities.Assisting with the updates of computing web pages including production and upkeep of FAQs, to ensure they are relevant, accurate and timely.Carrying out computing induction courses for new staff as and when required. To be a successful Desktop User Support specialist, you will have the following skills and experiences: 
Recent experience of troubleshooting computers, applications and customers in a work environment at a high level.In-depth experience of manual and automated installation and configuration of Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Linux operating systems including networking and OS firewall configuration.In-depth experience of packaging, scheduling and deploying images and software to PCs, using Microsoft SCCM.In-depth knowledge and understanding of PC and Mac hardware and operating systems (Windows 7, 10, OSX 10.x).In-depth knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office 2016, Office 365 and Adobe products for PC and Mac.In-depth knowledge and understanding of networking principles and configuration on PC, Mac and Linux OS.The ability to work independently and as part of a team.The willingness to work flexibly at times.
