Database technologist/architect, UK, up to £80K DescriptionHelp lead the architecture, technology and strategic direction of our clients successful Geospatial Relational Database system. The role will take the existing design and re-platform for the scale and technology of the cloud.Experience
The successful candidate will have led a technology transformation in the data storage and querying domain through to successful delivery. During their career, they will have acquired experience with a range of database technologies, including multi-tenant, highly scale-able open source, web-scale technologies.
We would expect the successful candidate to have experience in two or three of the following area, Spatial Data representations, processing and operationsQuery Execution Plan OptimisationComputer language grammarPostgreSQL and the spatial data extension PostGISQGISGDALContainerisation and Orchestration using Docker and KubernetesCloud-hosted Web Services -Azure Application Services or similar
Role
Initially, the candidate will conduct research and analysis into potential candidate platforms. This requires working with, and making recommendations to, the Lead Database Architect and other senior engineers.
Once a platform and architecture is agreed, the role will change to implement and deliver and improve the platform.Person
The successful candidate will be, An accomplished and experienced C++ DeveloperAble to demonstrate and interested in database technologiesAble to understand the needs of scale, compute, high availability and resilience required by cloud architectures.Graduate in Computer Science, Engineering or numerate subject.Likely to be have a post-graduate qualification in computer compilation or query language design.
