Environmental Trials Technician

£22-27.5k depending on experience

Experis are recruiting on behalf of our Client a leading Defence Technology organisation, for a number of Environmental Trials Technicians to join their Environmental Test function in Southend-on-Sea to deliver critical test and evaluation of defence related products, to simulate some of the most challenging environments in the world to ensure that the systems are ultimately safe and suitable for service.

The main accountabilities of this role will include -

* Develop understanding as to how to simulate test assets with vibration, shock, climatic and temperature profiles

* Assist in delivery of complex testing of high value assets to assess their performance within the demanding operational environments they will be deployed

* Support the set up and conduct of trials under the supervision of suitably qualified environmental engineers in accordance with the customer specifications & working procedures - ensuring all compliance with all safety legislation

* Undertake further theoretical education and training to develop your knowledge and experience

* Undertake interdepartmental moves of test items / test rigs

* Carry out other duties within the Environmental Test facility in line with current requirements

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

* Degree / HND level certification in Mechanical Engineering, or other aligned discipline

* Will consider graduates with no commercial experience so long as have theoretical knowledge of equipment test procedures

* Experience in a test and evaluation function would be highly advantageous but not a prerequisite for this role

* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

* Able to work collaboratively across departments

* Able to gain and maintain UK SC level security clearance (UK National)

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Graduate or time served Apprentice to join a leading Defence research organisation to ensure that specialist ordnance is fit for purpose in the demanding end user environments it will be deployed. Due to the nature of this role there is clear progression opportunities and the chance to attain further relevant certifications and knowledge in Environmental Testing.
