IT Technical Lead / Senior Systems Specialist - Northampton - £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits

Windows Server, Azure, Networking (Cisco), VMware, NAS/SAN, NetApp, EMC

Working on behalf of a leading client we are seeking a Hands on IT technical Lead/ Senior Systems Specialist who will be a leader/Mentor within a team of 6 people who deliver technical support and service delivery across and Microsoft Windows Server, Unix/Linux, Cisco estate.

Technology wise this team support Multi-vendor solutions so you will not be tied to any specific providers there for we are looking for someone who is happy to transfer knowledge across different platforms and work across multiple technology platforms.

Technical you will have a fundamental understanding and ability to work with Windows, VMware, Cisco and Storage but will also be happy to work with Hyper-V and various different storage providers. This is an opportunity which will be considered a lead within the team. So you will be happy to be an escalation point and go to for more complex issues and queries that on face value the broader team are struggling with.

Day to day you will be responsible for

* Task management of Infrastructure engineers

* Deliver projects ranging from hosted platforms through to system changes and migrations

* Be accountable for the internal systems/datacentre

* Act as escalation point for other Engineers/Service Desk, and Incident Management

* Ensuring operational and performance on the infrastructure landscape is managed in a way to avoid unplanned outage

* Produce IT Infrastructure policy documentation, implementation and governance.

Technology Stack - Experience or knowledge in most of the below would be beneficial

* Linux/Unix, Windows Server,

* VMware, Hyper-V

* Networking Cisco or Juniper including Routing/Switching and IPSEC

* Understanding of VLANS

* Firewall Experience - Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto etc

* Experience of working for and MSP

There is a succession plan in place for the successful individual to be moving into a Senior Leadership role and mentoring and personal development will be provide to support this promotion.
